INTRODUCTIONS

On August 27, Sun West kicked off the school year with the annual iLearn Professional Development Day in Rosetown. All Sun West teachers participate and Sun West Trustees were introduced at the beginning of the day. The picture above is of the Trustee introduction (left to right) Holly Goddard (Subdivision 9), Michelle Zacharias (Subdivision 8), Cathy Morrow (Vice-Chair and Subdivision 7), Lindsay Shaw (Subdivision 6), Terry Hall (Subdivision 5), Karen Blackwell Jones (Subdivision 4), Cathy Laventure (Subdivision 3), Michele Whitfield (Chair and Subdivision 2), and Fritz Eckstein (Subdivision 1).

JUNE-AUGUST HAPPENINGS

The Board of Education held a regular meeting on June 24 and Committee of the Whole Meetings on June 10 and August 27. Facilities, Transportation, and Advocacy Committee meetings were also held in June and August.  Highlights included:

  • Human Resources, School Community Councils, and Distance Learning Reports were all reviewed.
  • The 2025-26 Schedule of Board Meetings was reviewed and finalized.
  • Plans were made to invite the Minister of Education and local MLAs to meet with the Board.

TRUSTEES ARE PART OF YOUR COMMUNITY

Over 250 students participated in the annual Sun West Student Art Contest. Winners and runner ups were chosen in four grade-based categories and in June, Trustees presented the winners from their subdivisions with a mounted version of their artwork and gift cards.
