All Sun West Student Leaders work as part of one of two teams. Team Sun West that is responsible for organizing the annul Sun West Student Leadership Conference and the Sun West Squad that is responsible for developing programing, activities and resources to support student leadership in Sun West schools. Below are pictures of these two teams. In addition to these two main teams, some Student Leaders will participate in planning the 2026 ROADS TO SUCCESS Career Fair and participate in the Youth Consultation process, where students meet with the Sun West Board of Education to discuss matters of mutual concern.

The members of the Sun West Leadership Teams are selected from applicants who attended the annual Sun West Student Leadership Seminar. Every year, Sun West students in Grades 8-12 have the opportunity to attend the Sun West Student Leadership Seminar, which was held on October 15 in Rosetown this year, with over 80 students from 16 Sun West Schools in attendance. As part of the seminar students created the video above that demonstrates how student leaders make a difference in their schools and communities.
The activities and projects undertaken by Sun West Leadership Teams vary year-to-year but below is information to some of their work in the last two years.

Sun West Student Leaders plan, organize and lead the annual Sun West Leadership Conference. All Sun West students, Grades 7-12 are invited to attend. This video features highlights from the 2025 Conference in Loreburn.
Every two years, Sun West Student Leaders help in plan the ROADS TO SUCCESS Career Fair, which brings all Grade 10-11 students to Rosetown, where they learn about postsecondary institutions and employers. This is a video of the 2024 Fair highlights.
Every year, Sun West sends a delegation from several Sun West schools to the Canadian Student Leadership Conference (CSLC). These delegates return with great information and ideas to share with their schools. This video features the 2024 delegation presenting to the Board of Education.

Sun West sometimes nominates student leaders to the Saskatchewan Youth Council, a group of 12 students who advise the Minister of Education. Last year, Sun West Student Leader Tari Wenzel was a member. In this video, she talks about her experience.
