October Happenings
The Board of Education held a Committee of the Whole meeting on October 7 and its regular meeting on October 21. Highlights of these meetings included:
Trustees received the Distance Learning report that indicated Sun West students earned 1177 distance learning credits and have a 98.6% success rate.
Trustees received the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Report, which covered the wide array of learning programs within Sun West.
As required by the Education Act, the Board held its annual Organizational Meeting on October 21. At this meeting, the Chair and Vice-Chair are selected for a one year terms, The current Chair, Michele Whitfield (Subdivision 1) and Vice-Chair, Cathy Morrow (Subdivision 7) were chosen to continue in these roles for the upcoming year. Trustees are Part of Your Community
Terry Hall, Trustee for Subdivision 5 (In the banner below, in the picture on the right) attended the Creator Olympics in Rosetown on October 22 where she presented certificates of achievement to 39 students from 11 Sun West schools.
