Kyle Colony Students and Staff Celebrate Purple Thursday! Sandi Lougheed with the Canadian Royal Purple Society visited Kyle Colony School to help celebrate Brain Injury Awareness Day. Brain Injury Awareness Day, as observed by the Canadian Royal Purple Society, is also called Purple Thursday and takes place on the third Thursday of October. It is an awareness campaign that focuses on the intersection of interpersonal violence and brain injury. During this day, members wear purple, host events, and distribute "care bags" to shelters to support survivors and educate the public on how violence, such as blows to the head or strangulation, can cause brain injuries.
