Fred Fox Visits Sun West Schools

From March 30 to April 2, Fred Fox, the brother of Canadian icon Terry Fox, visited Sun West schools and communities to thank them for their dedication to Terry Fox's goal of ending cancer.

It was a whirlwind four day tour! Fred traveled to Davidson, Kenaston, Outlook High, Outlook Elementary, Dinsmore Composite, Beechy with Lucky Lake, Kyle with Elrose Composite, Eston Composite, Kindersley Composite with Rossville, Westberry Elementary, Rosetown Central High, and Walter Aseltine Schools. He also made evening community presentations in Beechy and Eatonia, was interviewed for a Sun West video, and for the Sunny Side Student Leadership Podcast as well as stopping for lunch at the Division office to meet division office staff and Board of Education Trustees.

The school visited included four who have consistently been among the top fundraising schools for the Terry Fox Run in Saskatchewan. These were Davidson School, which has been the number one fundraiser in Saskatchewan for five years as well as Kyle Composite School, Eston Composite School, and Kenaston School that have also been among the top 20 fundraiser schools in the province.

At each school that Fred visited, he acknowledged the contributions of students, staff, and community to supporting Terry Fox's dream. He related the story of Terry Fox in a way that only a brother could, sharing family and friend pictures and stories. He related Terry's story to the lives of young people today telling them: "Terry showed us in 1980, that one person with a goal can make a difference. Each and every one of you can make a difference no matter what you want to do, today or in the future, whatever your plans are. Just like Terry, set goals, always work hard and never, never give up on your dreams."
