The Sun West Board of Education held its regular meeting on December 16, 2025.Highlights of the meeting included:
The Trustees heard a report from the Sun West delegation to the Canadian Student Leadership Conference that took place October 4-7 near Halliburton, Ontario. Nine students from eight schools and three adult advisors attended CSLC and provided an extensive report about speakers, activities, and the value of the learning and skills they acquired at CSLC to their schools, the division, and themselves.
The Trustees received the Home-based Education Report. Currently Sun West has just over 240 students who are home-schooled. Although they do not attend schools, Sun West still has a variety of responsibilities for these students.
Earlier in December, the Trustees held a special meeting to consider the Sun West Mission and Vision statements and the Sun West Values. The Trustees drafted a new preliminary Mission, Vision, and Values and these will be distributed to staff, students, and families in the new year along with surveys to get input prior to these being finalized.
Trustees were kept busy throughout the holiday season attending and helping out at school Christmas concerts and feasts as well as other special events. One Trustee even played Santa Claus at a local Christmas pageant. Below are pictures from a few of these events.
