From March 30 to April 2, Fred Fox, the brother of Canadian icon Terry Fox, visited many Sun West schools to thank them for their dedication to Terry Fox’s dream of ending cancer. During his whirlwind tour, Fred took the time to stop off at the Division office in Rosetown where he had lunch with Division office staff and Board of Education Trustees. March 2026 Happenings

The Board of Education held its regular meeting on March 24. Highlights included:

Trustees discussed the recent provincial budget as it impacted education funding and school division funding. The Board was also briefed on the work currently underway to develop the 2026-27 Sun West budget.

The Trustees amended Board Policy 1 (Division Foundational Statements) to incorporate the new Sun West Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Core Values that were approved at its February meeting.

Trustees reviewed the status of the proposed alternate school calendar.

Trustees reported on recent successes in their subdivisions including a $9000 grant for playground equipment in Eston (Subdivision 1), judging a public speaking contest in Dinsmore (Subdivision 4), and a presentation by former Chief Edmund Bellgarde in Beechy (Subdivision 5) as well as ongoing positive meetings with local School Community Councils.
