Remembrance Day Service

Walter Aseltine School held its Remembrance Day Service on Tuesday, November 13, 2015.  At the service we honored members of the armed forces for their service to our country.  In attendance were some of our local Legion members that were able to attend.

One member was Mr. Jim McCulloch.

Jim is the Service Officer of the Rosetown Legion Branch #66.   He is a WWII Veteran who joined the army in 1942.

In 1943 he joined the Regina Rifles and went overseas.   He was involved in D-Day Normandy on June 6th, 1944. Jim has been back to Holland 5 times as a liberator.

Jim has received many awards for his service.  In the Spring of 2014 he received a meritorious service award which is the highest award given to a Legion member.  In the Fall of 2014 he received a metal from France for liberation of France. The Government of France awarded him with Knight in the French National Order Legion of Honor.  He received the Dominion of Command merit award for 70 years of membership.

Walter Aseltine School would like to honor and give thanks to all Canadian soldiers and war veterans.  We remember the sacrifices of those men and women who have served and continue to serve our country, in wars and peacekeeping missions throughout the world.  These brave Canadians have served their country with pride and dignity to support peace and freedom all over the world. Thank you!
