Mrs. Walters' and Mrs. Harrison's Grade Three Class Donates 169lbs of Food to the Outlook & District Food Bank

September was Hunger Awareness Month and OES partnered with FCC (Farm Credit Corporation) and  Riverbend Co-op to collect food for our local food bank.  FCC supplied the bags that were used to collect the food items and Riverbend Co-op took all of our food donations to our local food bank and provided the students with a free BBQ lunch at the end of the collection campaign.  It is amazing what people can do when they put their minds to it!  We are extremely proud of all our OES students and their families for the kindness and generosity they have shown through their donations. At the end of our food drive OES collected a total of 862 lbs. of food for the Outlook & District Food Bank!    As a reward, the top 3 classes were awarded a pizza party for lunch and a monetary reward for each class from the Co-op.  First place was Mrs. Walters and Mrs. Harrison’s Grade 3 class who collected 169 lbs. of food, second place was Miss Larson’s Grade 5 class with 135 lbs., and in third place was Mr. Siemans class collecting 87 lbs. of food!  When asked what the Grade 3 class wanted to do with the money they suggested that we donate it back to families who need it.  It is truly heartwarming so see such caring students and parents!  We hope that all families in our area had lots of food on their tables and a great Thanksgiving! Thank you to Mrs. Heinrichs and Achilles Griffith for weighing the food daily and keeping track of the totals for us.
