Friday Night Lights© found their way to Loreburn tonight, as the Bulldogs came to the LA Field for the first night game in Aztec history, helping to commemorate Head Coach Grant Abbott’s final year coaching football and teaching at Loreburn.
And what a night it was, clear and a slight breeze, as these two teams renewed their age old rivalry.
Both teams’ defense played well from the beginning, as neither team could gain any advantage. Helping the Bulldogs was undisciplined play from the Aztecs, but their defense continued their “Bend, don’t break” mantra, holding the Bulldogs scoreless.
It was the Aztecs who struck first, scoring on a huge pass and run play for 70 yards after running the ball relentlessly. The Bulldogs could not answer back, and the Aztecs scored again.
The Bulldogs suffered two key injuries early, first with their QB which hurt their offense quite a bit, and a second injury to a defensive back. This gave the Aztecs enough of an advantage to win the game.
Thank you to Central Butte who patiently waited during the halftime festivities. It allowed for a fun and memorable night.
