Advanced Placement

What is Advanced Placement?

Advanced Placement (AP) is an international organization established in 1955, for the purpose of facilitating high school students accessing university-level classes.

Currently over 100 Canadian high schools and 15 Canadian Universities recognize the Advanced Placement program. This includes 24 schools in Saskatchewan and both the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina. More information on Advanced Placement in Canada can be found at: www.ap.ca

Does Sun West Offer AP Classes?

Currently four Sun West schools offer AP classes: These are: Eston Composite School; Kindersley Composite School; Outlook High School; and Rosetown Central High School.

What AP Classes are Offered?

Currently Sun West schools offer the following AP classes: Calculus 30, English 30 and Studio Art.

What are the reqirements to enroll in an AP Class?

To enroll in AP Calculus 30 or English 30, a student must have an average of 85%. To enroll in AP Studio Art the student must be recommended by the school’s art instructor. To be successful in an AP class a student must be focused, capable of an accelerated pace and an independent learner.
