Harris-Tessier Central School Will Have New Principal

Larissa Mack will be the new Principal at Harris-Tessier Central School starting in the 2024-25 school year.

“We are excited to have Larissa join the Sun West team,” stated Sun West Director of Education Vicki Moore, “she brings a strong skill set with her and she possesses an infectious enthusiasm.”

Mrs. Mack received her Bachelor of Education (with distinction) in Elementary Education in 2016. She started her teaching career in Coronach School and had a number of teaching assignments there between 2016 and 2022, including Grades 1, 2, 3 and 6 as well as teaching Senior Science, Art, and Practical and Applied Arts. During this period, she also taught online and acquired many skills incorporating technology into her teaching.

In 2022, Mrs. Mack started as a substitute teacher in the Prairie Spirit School Division and since 2023 has been the Grade 2 teacher at Vanscoy School.

She has also been the lead teacher in the Cargill Pilot Project (an online project that connected classrooms in different schools). Mrs. Mack is passionate about mental health and wellness and strives to make inclusivity and representation part of the classroom environment.

Mrs. Mack is currently pursuing her Masters of Educational Psychology at the University of Regina.

Mrs. Mack frequently volunteers and is an active member of her community. In 2010, she was a volunteer teacher at the Glorious Orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania. She organized numerous charitable golf tournaments in Coronach, and has coached golf, volleyball, badminton and track and field.

“I am so grateful for all of the teaching experiences and opportunities that I have had in my career so far,” said Ms. Mack. “I am so excited to continue my journey in education as an administrator. Small schools are my favourite and I am thrilled to be joining Harris-Tessier Central School. Mental-health, literacy, and anti-racist teaching are my true passions, and I can’t wait to continue growing as an educator and as a leader. Making connections with students, families and community members is something that I am truly looking forward to!” She added.
