K-3 Rodeo Fun!

On Sept. 23rd, the K - 3 students got a behind the scenes look at the Beechy Western Days Rodeo.  Announcer, Mike Labelle, obviously very experienced dealing with wild creatures, wasted no time in locking the K - 3's into one of the bull pens.  After letting them loose from there, he proceeded to load them into the calf chute, where they could test their get away skills.

The Gr. 1 - 3 students interviewed Mike to find out about his job, his responsibilities and what he likes best.  The Kindergartens were  tasked with learning about rules at Rodeo (some also decided to showcase their snow-angel making skills in the dirt for good measure).

The K - 3's also got a chance to meet pick up man, Travis Erickson, and his horse, Oscar, and find out about his job.

To wrap up, the students unwittingly helped Mike test out the sound system from the stands by answering questions and doing the Chicken Dance.

Thanks to Mel Odermatt for helping to set up the interviews for us, and to Mike and Travis for taking time out of their busy day to answer our questions.
