Sun West's 2009-10 budget has been approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a 53 million dollar balanced budget:

Grants for Operating expenses etc.

Property Taxes - $25,848,281- 48%
Funds derived by Sun West property owners based on the provincial mill rate set by Provincial Government

Other - $280,410 - 1%
Tuition, fees, proceeds from one-time property sales

Expenses

Instruction - $39,050,962 - 73%
Textbooks, educational technology, extracurricular funding, libraries, salaries and benefits for teachers, educational assistants, school-based administrators, superintendents and the Director of Education.

Facilities - $6,393,320 - 12%
Heating, lighting, maintenance, repairs and improvements to division property, salaries and benefits for caretakers and maintenance personnel.

Student Transportation - $6,207,352 - 12%
Vehicle maintenance, fuel and new vehicle purchases, salaries and benefits for drivers and mechanics.

Administration - $1,078,481 - 2%
Heating, lighting, maintenance, repairs and improvements to the Division Office, salaries and benefits of Division Office staff.

Other - $860,790 - 1%
Board of Education meetings, elections, fees, collective bargaining costs, School Community Council grants, Student Leadership Program, public relations, tuition & related charges, external services, fees & bank charges.
